Hhx is a fulltime three-year commercial upper secondary education programme, which qualifies students for admission to Danish business academies, schools of technology and design, university colleges and universities.
The hhx programme focuses specifically on subjects related to the fields of business economics, marketing and international economics combined with foreign languages and other general subjects.
*A= upper level, B= medium level, C= basic level.
After finishing the foundation course, each student chooses a specialized study programme.
Each programme consists of a set of two subjects supplemented by one or more electives.
Each school must provide a selection of 13 standardized programmes which students can choose from.
| Example 1: Specialization in economics and marketing | Example 2: Specialization in economics and language | Example 3: Specialization in language |
|---|---|---|
| Business economics A | International economics A | 2nd language A |
| Marketing A | 2nd language A | 2nd language A, B or C |
The final individual project (3.year) is based on preceding interdisciplinary cooperation between several subjects across the hhx profile, covering a total of seven research areas related to humanities, social science and business studies. The students gain experience with the subjects’ methodology, theory of science and academic disciplines to prepare them for the final stage of their education.
The project must be based on two subjects, out of which one is A-level (= upper level) and the other related to one of the study programme’s profile subjects.
20 class hours are allocated to this process as well as 30 hours of self-study, covering a period of ten days. This includes supervision and study related activities with relevant teachers.
In the course of the three years each student completes a minimum of 2605 hours of classes. In addition to classes, the programme includes homework, written assignments, research, etc., as well as examinations.
Various methods of teaching are employed, e.g. classroom instruction, project work, individual and group based written work, etc. Up to 20% of the teaching time can be spent on virtually organized teaching.
The hhx is typically offered by business colleges, which also offer vocational education and training.
Some of the schools also offer the htx programme and a few offer all four upper secondary programmes (hf, stx, hhx and htx).
